The COVID-19 vaccine will be given for free to all residence of Malaysia.
As of February 2021, Malaysia has secured 66.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines through the COVAX Facility and advance purchases from five vaccine manufacturers. Of the five vaccine manufacturers, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has obtained conditional approval from the Drug Control Authority (DCA) and the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) of Malaysia on the 8th of January 2021. Both AstraZeneca and Sinovac have been approved in March 2021.
The remaining COVID-19 vaccine candidates are still pending approval.
Target groups for the 3 phases of vaccination
Phase 1 (Feb – Apr 2021) – 500K individuals
Frontliners: healthcare personnel, essential services, defence and security personnel
Phase 2 (Apr – Aug 2021) – 9.4 million individuals
Priority group 1
Remainder of healthcare workers as well as those in essentialservices and defence and security personnel
Priority group 2
Senior citizens (those aged 60 and over), high-risk group with chronic diseases such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure and people with disabilities (OKU)
Phase 3 (May 2021 – Feb 2022) – 13.7 million individuals or more
Adult population aged 18 years and above (citizens & non-citizens). Priority will be given to those in the red zones; followed by those in yellow zones and finally those in green zones

Appointment: Date and Location
Appointment information such as the date and location of vaccination will be notified via the MySejahtera application, phone call or SMS. For the MySejahtera App, vaccine recipients will be notified via push notification. Kindly ensure you enable push notification in your app settings.
After registration, appointments will be made in phases based on the pre-determined category the individual falls under. Candidates will receive confirmation of date and assigned Vaccination Distribution Centre (PPV) two weeks prior to their appointment.
Choose the Type of Vaccine
You cannot choose the type of vaccine. Recipients need to adhere to the COVID-19 vaccine schedule using the stated brand according to the specified time period. All vaccines that are approved by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Division (NPRA) are safe and efficacious to be used in Malaysia.
