Tune Protect COVID Travel Pass+ is one of the most talked-about travel insurance for Covid-19 medical coverage. It has the plan customized especially for foreign visitors, meeting the requirements set by the Ministry of Health to travel to Malaysia. The travellers can just purchase the insurance online and they’re good to go.
However, if your credit card is not equipped with 3D secure feature where an OTP is sent to your mobile for payment verification, you may encounter problems with payment. Alternatively, you may ask someone else to purchase on your behalf.
They have been pro-actively improving their plan and glitches in the online purchase system based on feedback from the customers. The policy duration limit was 60 days previously, but now it has been duly extended to 90 days.
Terms
- Eligible for everyone except the following : Malaysia Citizen; Permanent Resident of Malaysia; or Holder of valid work permit (that allows for work in Malaysia)
- Age limit is from 30 days up to maximum of 70 years old
- Covers up to 90 days (was previously 60 days). No extension and no stacking is allowed after that period. The policy is not cancellable or refundable.

Besides medical expenses for COVID-19, COVID Travel Pass+ also offers coverage for personal accidents, travel inconveniences, medical expenses, ground inconveniences, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation due to accident, as well as 24-hour travel assistance services.
How To Purchase
- You can purchase without creating an account

- Enter the “Arriving and Departing Malaysia Date” which will determine your period of coverage and it should follow the duration that you are planning to be in Malaysia.
- Select your “Nationality” and “Number of Insured” then click “GET A QUOTE”
- You can choose either the Basic or Premium Plan. Click “More details” to see the other benefits covered by each plan. Then “CONTINUE”
- Answer NO to “Are you a Malaysian Citizen; Permanent Resident of Malaysia; or Holder of valid work permit”. If your answer is YES, you are not eligible to purchase this insurance.
- Fill in your personal details and press “Continue”
- You will be able to see the “Order Summary” with 6% SST and Stamp duty.
- Read and Agree to “Terms & Conditions”.
- Select Payment Type: “Credit/ Debit Card” or “Online Banking”. Click “BUY NOW”.
- Enter payment details. Click “Pay Now”.
- If you have problem making payment with your credit card, please ensure that your credit card is equipped with 3D secure feature where an OTP (one-time pin code) is sent to your mobile for payment verification. Alternatively, you may ask someone else to purchase on behalf.
Certificate of Insurance
- Upon payment, the certificate of insurance is issued immediately and sent to your registered email. Sometimes, it may be sent to your email’s junk/spam folder. To avoid future e-mails like this being automatically sent to your junk folder, please add hello.my@tuneprotect.com to your Address Book and/or the “Approved Sender” list.

It is important that you call this number for more details before you take any action. As for outpatient treatment, please retain all original receipts and submit the claim to Tune Protect.
How to Claim

- Your claim will be reviewed accordingly and if approved, payment will be processed within 14 days upon submission of complete documentation.

Feb 2022: Tune Protect does not seem to take US Credit card for purchase of the Covid Insurance coverage for LTB. I have contacted Tune Protect and not making any progress.
Feb 2022: Travel insurance. I used tune protect, this is the easiest. It shows the amount covered for Covid which is important.
